World ‘closer than ever’ to Iran nuclear deal: Kerry

Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday that the world is “closer than ever” to reaching a comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran but the work is far from over, AP reported on Tuesday.
Kerry made the remarks in his speech at a global gathering on nuclear disarmament.The U.S. secretary of state and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met on the sidelines of the global gathering.
Kerry was meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for the first time since world powers and Iran sealed a framework agreement on April 2.
Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) have set a June 30 deadline to reach a comprehensive agreement.
